What does a port delay do to an order’s cash flow?
Singapore 2024 · replenishment, working capital and trade-document integrity
Start with a documented public event. Compare the trade-offs between cheaper transport, avoiding stockouts and financing a replenishment order. Change the assumptions below to recalculate locally in your browser.
The public event is real; orders, freight, premiums, rates, funding limits and service options are constructed. This is not a client transaction, company deployment, bank approval or record of achieved savings.
01 / INTERACTIVE BUSINESS CASE
Screen for feasibility, then compare economic burden
Constructed order: 5,000 units bought at US$30 and sold at US$42. A 30% deposit is paid 7 days before departure; the balance and logistics are paid on departure. All other fixed inputs are in the result JSON.
These are assumed screening criteria, not approved credit or a promised delivery. Peak funding need already deducts own cash. Zero is a binding limit; a blank funding limit or deadline means that constraint is not applied. The contribution floor is required, with a minimum of zero.

Selected among eligible options only. Verify actual financing and service availability before any business decision.
Lowest burden among eligible optionsHypothetical priority service
Stockout opportunity is foregone contribution on unmet pre-arrival demand, not a second cash payment. This simplified model assumes the replenishment order is eventually sold in full. No additional daily-delay charge is added. Net economic contribution is not audited accounting profit.

02 / SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Faster is not always better value
When inventory is sufficient, paying for speed may not be worthwhile. When stock is scarce, foregone contribution may outweigh freight savings. Try a funding limit of US$129,000 and a deadline of day 15: the cheapest eligible option changes. Then move the deadline to day 12: no option meets both limits.
Actual service availability, priority capacity and alternate-port customs feasibility are unverified. The 27 sensitivity settings are deterministic comparisons, not predicted probabilities.
03 / FINANCE & BUSINESS
Profit and liquidity are different questions
An order with a positive planned margin can still need financing before collection. The event ledger makes that timing visible. Interest is calculated over the area of negative incremental balances. A low-cost option is not recommended if it breaches the funding or timing limit, or falls below the contribution floor.
Interest is not a lender quote. The model excludes credit approval, FX, tax, compound interest and the company’s other cash flows. It ends at customer collection; remaining debt and its later interest are outside scope.
04 / TRADE-DOCUMENT INTEGRITY
Consistent documents do not prove the trade
The local app generates invoice, packing-list and insurance-request JSON from the current constructed order, checks consistency, and signs that checked bundle with a temporary DEMO key. The signed context includes the order assumptions, input digest and screening decision. Invalid uploads block signing instead of silently substituting the default order.
The tables below are a static snapshot of deliberately constructed tests, not live document upload or real-document detection accuracy. The checker does not perform OCR. Context digests bind bytes; they do not certify that financial calculations or uploaded trade claims are true.

MPA linked off-schedule arrivals and vessel bunching to upstream disruptions and Cape of Good Hope diversions. Most container vessels berthed on arrival. Where schedule adjustment was infeasible, average waiting was about 2–3 days. January–April 2024 container throughput was 13.36 million TEU, up 8.8% year on year. Additional resources raised stated weekly handling capacity from 770,000 to 820,000 TEU.
This statement does not provide shipment-level arrival observations, a delay probability distribution, freight quotes or insurance rates. · 2026-10-04
The documented physical shipment was scrap metal from Miami to Gujarat. DBS, ICICI Bank, traders and Maersk participated in a paperless eBL and letter-of-credit workflow with documentary checks and title transfers.
HarborShield has no access to those transaction documents and no bank, TradeTrust or eBL title-transfer integration. · 2026-10-04
All assumptions and exclusions
The 140,000 USD external-funding limit, day-15 stock-availability deadline and zero minimum net contribution are constructed screening criteria, not confirmed credit or a contractual delivery commitment. Peak funding already deducts own cash. Null funding/deadline means not applied; zero is a binding limit. Cost ranking is retained even when no option is eligible.
2.5 days is a constructed affected-shipment scenario inspired by the reported 2–3-day wait; it is not the mean for all Singapore arrivals.
0 and 7 days are counterfactual sensitivity settings, not reported shipment observations.
Every service option, freight amount, premium, interest rate, demand and document-release time is hypothetical. Priority capacity and alternate-port customs feasibility are unverified.
The entire replenishment order is eventually sold, with one simplified receipt after availability plus the payment term. Existing-stock sales and other business cash flows are excluded.
Pre-arrival unmet demand is lost rather than backordered. Its lost unit contribution is an opportunity cost, not a second cash payment or a reduction of this order's assumed sales receipt.
Simple interest on negative incremental cash balance is calculated only until customer collection. No credit approval, taxes, FX, compound interest or future residual-debt repayment is modelled.
This deterministic case is separate from the uncalibrated v0.2 stochastic insurance model; no daily-delay charge is added again.
